Our own Midtown member John Campbell was appointed to the bench by Governor Haslam in November 2012. Now he is running for a full term in Criminal Court Division 6.
“I was born and raised here,” Campbell said. “Went to CBHS and then the University of Memphis.” He was appointed assistant district attorney by Hugh Stanton and then by Bill Gibbons. He served in that capacity for 27 years, handling all kinds of cases from nuisance to capital crimes; child abuse “which changes your outlook; and now hears appeals from mental health to extradition. “I do mentoring, too.
“I strive to be fair and honest and I have gotten the highest rating for professional ethics,” Campbell explained.
His opponent is Alicia Howard.
