A blogger I like has a saying: “Never bet against DJT.”
It’s true. Trump knows how the system works and what to do. However, many have not caught on to this. Kathy Griffin is one of the more recent chumps. Today she gets knocked off her first place by Megyn Kelly.
Ms. Kelly has tangled with the Donald before. She believed she had him on the woman question at the first debate Fox held. A snarky side of her came out and many people never returned to her 8 p.m. Central show on Fox. Even Trump’s comment about blood coming out of her eyes didn’t backfire on him much to her dismay.
Then last May, when she was hoping to start a new show casting herself as Barbara Walters in celebrity interviews, she ran to Trump hoping to snag ratings with an interview. It bombed. Her questions were unexciting and she didn’t land the ratings needed to get her new show.
So she went off to NBC, a network that could appreciate her “talent” and share in her anti Trump wallowing.
Last night she debuted her show on NBC with an interview of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian President Narendra Modi.
NBC had highly promoted the show, tweeting that Putin “does not deny having compromising information” on President Donald Trump. Then – surprise – it wasn’t true so they had to correct it: “Russia’s Putin denies having compromising information on Trump.”
She didn’t deliver the goods on Trump they wanted. Breitbart describes the interview:
He (Putin) dismissed any notion that he had a close relationship with former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and mocked the idea that Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, had nefarious dealings through the Russian ambassador:
“For me, this is just amazing. You created a sensation out of nothing. And out of this sensation, you turned it into a weapon of war against the current president. Well, this is, you know, you’re just, you people are so creative over there. Good job. Your lives must be boring.”
Later, the mockery became more intense:
Kelly: There have been questions in America about Donald Trump’s finances. He hasn’t released his tax returns. There have been questions about this secret Russian dossier, which he says is fake, but which purports to have blackmail information in it generated by the Russians. There have been questions about the communications between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign. All of which has Americans asking, “Do you have something damaging on our president?”
Putin: Well, this is just another load of nonsense. Where would we get this information from? Why, did we have some special relationship with him? We didn’t have any relationship at all. There was a time when he used to come to Moscow. But you know, I never met with him. We have a lot of Americans who visit us. Right now, I think we have representatives from a hundred American companies that have come to Russia. Do you think we’re gathering compromising information on all of them right now or something? Are you all, have you all lost your senses over there?
Then, Ms. Kelly messed up even more and offended a whole subcontinent.
When Indian Prime Minister Modi mentioned a tweet Kelly had written she patronizingly asked him if he tweeted. Well, he only has more than 30 million followers. That prompted the twitterverse to ask if she had done any preparations at all for her interview.
Ms. Kelly didn’t deliver on viewers either. According to Variety, “Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly drew 6.1 million viewers in its 7 p.m. time slot, behind 60 Minutes‘ 6.6 million viewers. Both news programs lost handily to ABC’s broadcast of the NBA Finals Game 2 matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, which drew an average of around 15.5 million viewers.
“Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly will run through the summer until NBC’s Sunday Night Football premieres in September. The show will return in February after the network ends its coverage of the Winter Olympics. In the off time, Kelly will debut another show at NBC, a morning news show that will immediately follow the network’s top-rated Today.”
Good luck with that one, Megyn dear. Maybe by that time she’ll realize it’s best not to bet against DJT.
