Many are in high dudgeon today about President Trump’s tweet today. He was responding to Joe Scarborough and girlfriend/fiance Mika Brzezinski’s non stop criticism of him on their disgusting MSNBC show. He tweeted: “I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came….to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”
Does it offend me? No. Does it bother me? Not really. I see this in a different way than many.
For all I know, President Trump, excellent strategist that he is, is pulling the conversation off the repeal and replacement of Obamacare. As Rush Limbaugh said, reporters are like a cat following a laser pointer. They’ll race off to follow the first shiny thing that moves. Maybe it will be enough diversion to get the Republicans to focus on getting rid of Obamacare without all the media microscope on every move they make.
Then again it strikes me that having walloped CNN, Trump is now turning his guns on MSNBC. Metaphorically, of course. He knows that anything he says sets them off on more offensive, ridiculous stunts and stories. It worked with CNN. They have been obsessed with the Russia story and took any wild tale they could to shape it into an impeachment package. Truth has had nothing to do with their reporting.
Trump may see a similar opportunity with MSNBC, which has been another lie factory. You know that Joe and Mika are eating this up and loving the limelight. Liberals love righteous indignation. They’re probably very happy at his tweet. It will energize them to push their obsession with him to the limits.
I also wonder why Americans think elected officials must follow a turn the other cheek philosophy. It’s important in Christianity, but you can’t lead a country that way. We elected someone who would not shy from a fight. If you’re disappointed in the president now, you either didn’t vote for Trump or don’t understand what this man does. He cautioned us from the beginning that he would fight back twice as hard if attacked.
I wanted that. Most Republicans have been looking for someone who would not let the media walk all over him or her. We got. It’s working. Carry on, Mr. Trump.
