White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced yesterday that President Trump would donate $1 million to the Houston hurricane victims.
He has not yet decided which charity to donate the money to and she asked for suggestions.
But since the announcement, liberals have hit him with category 5 denouncement. Twitter was full of comments such as that’s just a drop in the bucket to him; it’s like a $100 donation; he’ll make up for it in money he illegally obtains in his business; etc., etc.
But what have Obama and the Clintons done? The avarice of the Clintons can’t be minimized. Hillary gets a book deal for her election loss analysis (which someone probably wrote for her), she plans a book tour and charges people to see her. She’s asking $3,000 Canadian in that country and as much as $1,250 in ours. What the??
She did tweet about disaster relief. Here’s what she said. “As we keep everyone affected by Hurricane Harvey in our thoughts, here’s how you can help:http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_59a166dde4b0821444c37515 …
8:55 AM – Aug 27, 2017” In other words, check out the Huffington Post for where to donate.
The family that is renowned for donating Bill’s underwear and taking a tax write off on it, doesn’t seem so charitable. Have you seen any mention of them going to Houston to help?
Same with the Obamas. What they did give – aside from Fisher House (maybe he feels guilty for his poorly run military endeavors) – are very social justice warrior-y.
The biggest recipient was the Fisher House Foundation, which supports families of veterans and received $392,000 from the former commander in chief from 2009 to 2015. That money appears to have come from sales of Obama’s children’s book Of Thee I Sing. Just before entering the White House, Obama finished a manuscript for the book, which he published with Random House. Obama pledged to donate all of his post-tax proceeds from the book to the Fisher House Foundation to support a scholarship fund for children of wounded and fallen soldiers.
He gave away $190,000 more to children’s causes, including $48,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs. He also gave away $19,500 to the Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit. Another $13,500 went to the Christopher House, a Chicago-based group that supports poor working families. Even after he moved to Washington, Obama remained loyal to his Chicago roots. He poured $11,500 into the Midtown Educational Foundation, which offers enrichment programs to poor urban youth in the Windy City, and he gave $20,500 to two groups fighting hunger in Illinois.
He did go to Twitter and urge people to donate to the Red Cross: “Thank you to all the first responders and people helping each other out. That’s what we do as Americans. Here’s one way you can help now. https://twitter.com/redcross/status/901546157238833152 …”
Big deal. It appears his wallet remains snapped tight.
And what of the Bushes who live in Texas? Houston, I believe. Haven’t heard a peep out of them. Perhaps they are jealous of how well Trump has handled the crisis.
The Bushes went to Maine. George W put out this statement: “This morning I spoke with Governor Abbott about the rescue and operations underway in Houston and along the Gulf Coast. Laura and I are moved by the heroic work of the first responders and volunteers who are putting themselves at risk to save others. The devastation breaks our hearts, but we are confident that these strong communities will recover and thrive.”
But at least they did give.
“Laura and I are pleased to donate to Team Rubicon, the Red Cross, and the Salvation Army. We hope our fellow citizens will join us in giving to these groups and others that are making a difference on the ground. We are proud of the people of Texas for showing the resilience and compassion of our state, and we pray for their safety and well-being.”
