MeAgain Flops Again

Call it the curse of the Donald. People who go up against Donald Trump suffer career slides.

Exhibit A: Megyn Kelly. This summer her big interview show flopped bigly. People did not tune in. Now she’s launched her daily post Today show gabfest and it hasn’t worked out well.
I decided to watch today’s show to see if she’s keeping up her losing streak. In short, yes.

First, who is dressing her? The woman who played vamp at Fox looks like a housewife. She had her stringy hair and a black top and pants – the kind people wear who do not want you to see they’ve gained weight.

Her topics included dogs (who doesn’t love them?), veterans (ditto), babies and a sick woman with a sob story. Kelly mentioned Saudi Arabia now allowing women to drive, then asked the audience in a somber tone, whether women have achieved equality here. In a show of hands, only one was raised. This caused her to get all preachy about our having a long way to go in this country. Hmm. Did well enough for her, didn’t it?

She talked with a woman who has been suffering from an undiagnosed condition. I kid you not – the sad music started up. Kelly went on to interview one of the killer Menendez brothers. Like a National Enquirer bent, isn’t it?

The whole thing was cringe worthy and I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Reviews have not been good. Here’s the latest assessment from “Megyn Kelly’s first Today monologue on NBC made for uncomfortable viewing.

“She’s not nearly as poised a host as she was an anchor and interviewer. She’s not in sync with the audience. She looks nervous. She is not relatable or winsome, both of which she suddenly — inexplicably — wants to be. It’s as if the old Kelly — sarcastic, cutting, sharp — got replaced by a Trump-approved version that grins hard and just wants you to like her. She won’t talk politics! She promises! If this startling about-face tells us anything, it’s that Trump, Kelly’s tormentor, has won.”

Not long after that show started, Kelly stumbled with Will and Grace star Debra Messing. “On her first day, Kelly created a mini-controversy by hosting the cast of “Will & Grace” and making a bizarre comment about a gay fan of the show.

“Russell Turner, a “super fan” of the show, was invited onstage by Kelly. When he got on onstage, Kelly made viewers cringe by asking, ‘Is it true that you became a lawyer–and you became gay–because of Will?’

“Kelly also told the young man, “I don’t know about the lawyer thing — but I think the ‘Will & Grace’ thing and the ‘gay thing’ is gonna work out great!”

“Will & Grace actress Debra Messing also responded to an Instagram comment reading, ‘But why did you guys do the Megyn Kelly show? That’s a fail!’ by saying, ‘Honestly I didn’t know it was MK until that morning.’ She added, ‘The itinerary just said Today show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments.’”

Yesterday it was Jane Fonda whom Kelly offended. From The Daily Mail: “One day after actress Debra Messing revealed that she regretted going on Megyn Kelly’s new NBC morning show, the embattled host managed to draw the ire of an even bigger Hollywood star.

“Megyn sat down with Oscar-winning screen icon Jane Fonda on Wednesday, and in an ill-advised and poorly conceived move, decided to ask the 79-year-old actress to detail the plastic surgery she has had done over the years.

“‘You, you’ve been an example to everyone, on how to age beautifully and with strength. And unapologetically,’ began Megyn, nervously drawing out her question.

“‘You admit you had work done. I think it’s to your credit. You look amazing. Have you … why did you say .. I read you felt you’re not proud to admit you had work done, why not?’

“At that moment a steely Fonda stared Megyn straight in the eyes and very firmly asked: ‘We really want to talk about that now?'”

Don’t think she’ll return, do you?

Others have felt the cosmic karma that effects anti Trump celebrities. Rosie O’Donnell’s ex wife just committed suicide. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell had an outake video come out in which he was cursing and unpleasant to his underlings. Jennifer Lawrence criticized him for the hurricanes and her picture, “Mother,” flopped big time. Of course the biggest loser was Hillary Clinton.

Don’t forget the NFL either. Their Trump hatred is driving them to professional suicide.

Anyone else want to give it a try?
