April Ryan will have to take the cake for the most incredible piece of Trump loathing of the year.
Actually, it’s pie because that was the object of her meltdown.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted a picture of a chocolate pecan pie she had baked for Thanksgiving.
She tweeted: “I dont cook much these days, but managed this Chocolate Pecan Pie for Thanksgiving at the family farm!
1:40 PM – Nov 23, 2017”
That caused the White House reporter for American Urban Radio networks and CNN analyst to get quite flaky in her commentary. Ryan tweeted, “Show it to us on a table” followed by “I am not trying to be funny but folks are already saying #piegate and #fakepie Show it to us on the table with folks eating it and a pic of you cooking it. I am getting the biggest laugh out of this. I am thankful for this laugh on Black Friday!”
How petty can you get?
Having baked many a pie myself, I don’t think it was outside the realm of Sanders – even as a novice – to make this pie. Looks like she bought a crust (which many people who make pies do and still consider it homemade. I do, too, although I make my own and have an excellent recipe for a crust that uses chilled vodka and no water). As for the filling, any kind of pecan pie is just a matter of mixing the ingredients and pouring it into the shell. The nuts float to the top and it’s easy. The only problem that can arise is making sure it’s baked, but that can be easily done by wiggling the pan to see if it’s set.
But Ryan wasn’t the only one to go nuts over Sarah’s pie. The Daily News wrote an entire story on it headlined “No one believes that Sarah Huckabee Sanders baked this pie.” They used it to suggest that Sanders is as flighty as a Kardashian. “The alleged homemade dessert isn’t the first holiday treat to spark piegate conspiracy theories. On Thanksgiving 2015, Khloe Kardashian’s three pies were revealed as store-bought sweets by the actual baker herself. Kardashian’s Instagram picture of the pies and other baked goods caught the chef’s eye and ticked her off,” they wrote. Now that’s a stretch, isn’t it?
The media can’t even take an hour off at a holiday to stop their Trump bashing.
Is this what passes for journalism these days?
