Our favorite Memphis Republican, John Ryder, has a piece in this morning’s Washington Times. In it, he sounds the alarm on plans to propose a national popular vote compact that would replace the Electoral College. As Mr. Ryder says, this is a subversion of the Constitution.
The proposal by some fellow Republicans for a “national popular vote (NPV) compact” is an example of what H.L. Mencken meant when he said, “For every complex problem there is a solution that is simple, clear and wrong.”
Ryder’s piece gives good points in the argument for the Electoral College. Be sure to read it.
