I will not be watching any news shows today. I didn’t yesterday. I will be watching silly, stupid shows that insult my intelligence because no matter how ridiculous they are they won’t be as tragic and ridiculous as the spectacle taking place in Washington, D.C., today. Nor will they be as insulting to my intelligence as this administration is.
Months ago most of us hoped this would be a day of great rejoicing. Mitt Romney would take the stage, hold up his hand and be sworn in as someone who would protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and its people. Instead, we have this travesty of a leader who is furiously undertaking the task of “fundamentally transforming the United Sates of America.”
In spite of this, conservative blogger Erick Erickson of Redstate.com congratulates the president.
Saying that makes some of you really enraged. I said the same on twitter shortly after his official swearing in. Several of the replies were embarrassing and atrocious. Some accused the man elected by a majority of Americans of treason. Some accused him of willfully destroying the nation.
I believe the President’s policies are destructive and will harm our economy, our nation, and our sense of national self long term. I believe his policies have the effect of turning us into subjects of the government, not citizens in charge of it. Because of his expansion of the social safety net funded through class warfare, Mr. Obama’s policies will cause too many Americans’ fortunes to rise and fall with those of the government, unable to chart a course for themselves apart from government.
But I do not think the President means to do this maliciously. I do not think he is treasonous. I do not hate him. I am not outraged by it. The President has done what he set out to do. I cannot be outraged by him doing what he set out to do. I am far more outraged by the Republicans not doing what they said they would do.
He goes on to blame Republicans for the mess we’re in.
There is a difference between being a gadfly and being a fly carrying cholera, typhoid and dysentery. Erickson is too much the latter. It’s attack the GOP, attack its standard bearers and leaders daily on Redstate. He did it throughout the primaries, taking down each potential nominee and bashing Romney. Erickson chides us for not carrying the good will and optimism of a Reagan, while he eschews that himself.
You see, I do believe Obama is malicious. I do believe he wants chaos via class warfare, more poverty, suffering and that number one tool of evil, spite. I am tired of people criticizing the GOP for this loss when we all know that the Obama-ites were poised to do (and did) everything necessary for him to retain the office. Don’t kid yourselves, either. We may not be half way through his terms. If they can, Plouffe and pals will try to pull an FDR to continue his reign of errors.
Perhaps Erickson thinks that his fair mindedness will protect him from liberal attack. As we realists know, Obama will go after anyone and anything that gets in his way. He will never accede, concede or accommodate. It is a scorched earth policy he will pursue. We don’t need Republicans who will help him achieve this.
No, I will not congratulate Obama on his win today or participate in it. We’ve swung away from democracy towards tyranny. Being the loyal opposition will only encourage this.
Instead, we must work to undermine Obama every day. We need to attack his policies vigorously and attack the media’s defense of them. It’s not a time for subtlety. The Democrats have prevailed because they were on the warpath everyday of Bush’s eight years. That’s how they won the low information voters. Repeat something enough and eventually people will believe it. LIV don’t waste time analyzing and questioning anything. They like it spoon fed to them. Make the message strong and easily digested. The Dems understand this. We need to.
Meanwhile, we all must step up on the local level and work for the party from the grassroots up. Next cycle, the LIV will be napping at election time and that is a perfect time to win the local elections that will have a big effect on our daily lives.
If you want to watch the coronation, er inauguration, do so. Use it as a motivation. Let’s work so that we never have to endure such a thing again.
