Down, down, down

Obama’s reaching out to the GOP is one indicator that the American people are not happy with him. Having to do this must be galling for our narcissist in chief.

Politico’s report reinforces this idea. Kevin Robillard writes:

President Barack Obama’s approval rating in New York fell precipitously in the last month, according to a poll released Monday, and three-fifths of the state’s registered voters now believe the country is heading in the wrong direction.

Obama’s approval rating remains high in New York, at 56 percent, with 41 percent disapproving, according to the Siena College poll.

But the president’s approval rating was at 66 percent last month, with only 32 percent disapproval – so the change is a net 19 point decline.
“President Obama’s favorability rating dropped significantly this month,” Siena pollster Steven Greenberg said.

And even in one of the country’s bluest states, 60 percent of voters believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. Only 32 percent believe it’s headed in the right direction. In February, 46 percent believed the United States was on the right track, and 49 percent thought it was heading in the wrong direction.

It is even having an effect on other Democrats. He adds:

Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s numbers dipped slightly over the last month. While the Democrat’s approval rating remains even higher than Obama’s at 64 percent, that is the lowest level of approval Siena has recorded during Cuomo’s tenure in Albany. Only 30 percent of voters disapprove of Cuomo’s performance. A month before, Cuomo’s approval rating was 67 percent, with 29 percent disapproving.

Republicans must take advantage of this dip and not fall for this false outreach. The old guard lets flattery by Obama influence them. The new guard recognizes it for desperation.
