Obamanation

The president & co. managed to do many offensive things yesterday. It was a red letter day.

First, Obama said in Mexico, “And we also recognize that most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States. (Applause.) I think many of you know that in America, our Constitution guarantees our individual right to bear arms, and as President I swore an oath to uphold that right and I always will. But at the same time, as I’ve said in the United States, I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It’s the right thing to do. (Applause.) So we’ll keep increasing the pressure on gun traffickers who bring illegal guns into Mexico. We’ll keep putting these criminals where they belong — behind bars.”

Obama never misses an opportunity to apologize for Americans’ rights in another country. Mr. O, what about that little thing called Fast and Furious your administration did that ended up in the deaths of 300 Mexicans and two Americans? Sorry Libs, it wasn’t a Bush thing it was an Obama thing.

Michelle Obama continued the anti gun thing with her own tirade. The Hill reported:

First lady Michelle Obama said that students at a high school just five miles from her family’s Chicago home told her that “every day they wake up and wonder whether they’re going to make it out of school alive.”

In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” that will air this weekend, the first lady said that when she met students after delivering a speech last month on gun violence, she was struck by the extent to which fear dominated the children’s everyday lives.

“I mean, every single kid worries about their own death, or the death of someone, every single day,” Obama said.

The first lady traveled to her hometown to advocate for new gun controls ahead of the Senate’s vote last month on a bill that would expand background checks on gun purchases. The vote fell five senators short of the 60 needed.

Nothing like pure emotionalism and fear. They’re staples in the Democrat repertoire.

From the no good deed goes unpunished in Obama’s world department, the brave Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA to capture Osama Bin Laden is still rotting in jail. Two year’s after the terrorist’s death Dr. Shakil Afridi has been denied access to any legal help or to his family. He started a hunger strike April 25 and is still on it.

Can anyone even imagine such a thing occurring under President Bush?

Oh, and about that jobs number the liberal media is so excited about. From the Reagan coalition comes this info:

But here is what they aren’t telling you. There is a line in the jobs report that describes the “Aggregate Weekly Hours” and we have learned that the net hours worked by each worker dropped. That effectively comes out to be 500,000 net jobs lost if measured in total hours worked.

Here is what I think happened. To get from under having to abide by Obamacare, employers slashed hours and then were forced to hire more workers to make up the slack.

Because there is still a net loss of hours worked, the economy continues to get sicker.

That probably is more in line with what the everyday American is experiencing.

“A Punch to the Gut”

That was the response by former Obama Chairman of the Council of Economic Development Austin Goolsbee when the announcement came that only 88,000 jobs were added in March.

Of course, he immediately followed his quip by blaming the poor number on the sequester. It popped out so fast that you know all the Democrats were primed with that response. If you were able to monitor Democrat responses throughout the media at that very time, they would probably all be that same one word: sequester. It’s a way of pushing Obama’s tremendous failure off on Republicans. Even Obama must see it’s a stretch to blame it on Bush.

The 88K was below the forecast of 100,000 and the worst print since June 2012. The unemployment number dropped to 7.6% from last month’s 7.7%. Uh huh. If you believe that, you’re still looking for tooth money under your pillow. The labor force participation rate declined to 63.3%, a 30 year low.

Retail suffered a lot, shedding 24,000 jobs. Not surprising. Are you buying much? Most people aren’t.

ZeroHedge commented:

Things just keep getting worse for the American worker, and by implication US economy, where as we have shown many times before, it pays just as well to sit back and collect disability and various welfare and entitlement checks, than to work. The best manifestation of this: the number of people not in the labor force which in March soared by a massive 663,000 to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer even looking for work. This was the biggest monthly increase in people dropping out of the labor force since January 2012, when the BLS(Bureau of Labor Statistics) did its census recast of the labor numbers. And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% – the lowest since 1979! But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda that the US unemployment rate is “improving.”

Rick Santelli and Steve Liesman on CNBC had an epic battle over this when Liesman, an Obama toady, brought up “contributions to the future” regarding what to do next. That would mean “doing everything we can right now to lower unemployment,” Liesman said. To which Santelli replied, sarcastically, “those programs are doing sizzling hot right now.”

Liesman then told him he’d send him $10 if he could find a “report that says cutting government spending increases jobs at this point right now.” An incensed Santelli answered, “you don’t understand that the private sector creates jobs, I’ll go to Russia where you spent six years… must be some notes on that topic over there.”

Liesman lit into him saying “that’s a really intelligent response, Rick. Way to go. Showing your smarts right there.” Santelli said “let’s put the sickle on it,” referring to the communist logo of the hammer and sickle. After that insults started flying and the other hosts spoke over them to break it up.

Obamanation

Mr. Obama does not like it when the media actually asks a question. That’s not what they’re supposed to do, eh? Most Americans have forgotten what role the press plays and don’t even notice.

Chuck Todd of NBC – an Obama lackey and devotee if ever there was one – must have eaten his Wheaties yesterday morning. He dares to ask Obama why he’s not as popular as Bush or Clinton. Obama not only smacks him down, but flips him the bird. It’s a technique he uses to show his disdain before, although it is childish at best.

Here’s the clip:

Obamanation

In this clip, reporter and big lib – sorry, I am being redundant – Dana Milbank concedes that the Obama White House goes heavy on the profanities. Note, however, that he manages to get a dig in about the Bush years, too.

No one expects choir boys to inhabit the White House, but excess suggests poor mastery of our very descriptive language and a disrespect of staff, visitors and the American people.

Outrage of the Day

It wasn’t good that Bush pursued terrorists and used water boarding to find out where they were before they could kill Americans.

As I recall, Democrats were outraged about this policy, especially one Senator B. Obama.

In B. Obama’s second term, killing Americans via a drone overseas is OK, however. Obama takes away their right for a trial. He’ll just kill them if he feels like it.

And his press secretary, Jay Carney, called this legal, ethical and wise. From the Washington Free Beacon:

White House press secretary said Tuesday the administration’s use of drones is “legal,” “ethical,” and “wise,” at a press briefing following remarks by President Obama.

“These strikes are legal, they are ethical and they are wise,” Carney said.

NBC News reported late Monday on an unclassified Department of Justice white paper on the use of drones against American citizens, like al Qaeda operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan.

What Constitution is this man using? His own?

Where Are We?

The Obama campaign looks like they’re headed off the rails.

First, Obama was confused. In Denver he told campaign attendees that he wants more wind turbines made “here in China.”

Then his vice president said he loves coming to Iowa. Only problem for Biden is he was in Ohio.

Then this morning we learn that in an interview with Rolling Stone, Obama called Romney “a bullshitter.” I can’t remember a president ever using that harsh language about his opponent. Remember when the Bush/Cheney team got spanked for calling a New York Times reporter an asshole – big time. They were candidates at the time and it wasn’t meant to be heard by others. With Obama, he was being interviewed for a story!

Campaigns that get down to name calling are not succeeding elsewhere. Dumb moves.

Likable? Least of My Concerns

There is much talk about President Obama’s “likability.” Supposedly 60% of Americans think Obama is the more likable of the two candidates, with 30% saying Mitt Romney. The other 10%, as in most polls, barely know what state they live in.

Who cares? I don’t have to like or be in love with my president. In fact, it’s better if I am not. I think the framers would have felt that way, too. They realized that the cult of personality could get countries in a lot of trouble. George Washington could easily have used his popularity to remain president until he died. He rejected that. He was right.

Think back to the 19th century or even early 20th century. Most Americans probably rarely gave a thought to their president. They had too much to do: build a country, provide for their family, stay alive. Most never even heard the voice of their president. He could have been fat (some of them were), had an irritating voice, delivered a speech poorly and it wouldn’t have mattered. Results mattered.

Now we are forced to see presidents evaluated every day by a ravenous media. They filter everything we know about him. With Clinton he was thrust in our face every time we turned on the television. It was almost to a stalker level.

With Bush, he was put under the microscope for every malaprop or stumble. Nevermind he kept us safe after 9/11. He didn’t pronounce nuclear properly and that’s what really showed who he was.

Now we get Obama filtered through the media’s lens. He is always debonair, smiling, glad handing, dancing, singing, talking sports – whatever might appeal to you. Meanwhile the country is doing a nosedive. Still, according to the media polls, we like him.

Obama even takes his act on the road so more of us have to see him. We’re the protagonist in “A Clockwork Orange.” Our eyelids are metaphorically taped open so we don’t miss a minute of seeing his “greatness.”

Wouldn’t it be nice to live days without once thinking about whether the president was going to spoil your life with more regulations or get in your face with his? It’s a fantasy of mine. I want Calvin Coolidge back. “Silent Cal” didn’t thrust himself upon the American people at every opportunity. The more I learn about him, the more I like him. He got to the business of America – business – and let the American people be Americans.

Thanks to the media, that day will probably never recur. What a shame.

Good Analysis

At Ace of Spades blog, Fritzworth makes some good points: “I have to say that the GOP national committee under Reince Priebus is the best I’ve ever seen it, period, and Romney has not only taken the gloves off but seems to be unwrapping the tape from his hands. Meanwhile, the Dems — and in particular, the Obama campaign — is just not gaining traction. I think the “blame Bush/GOP” schtick has finally expired, just in time for the populace to put the blame for the current wretched economy squarely where it belongs.”
