This headline from a Reuters story is supposed to make Republicans gasp: “Dozens of former Bush officials leave Republican Party, calling it ‘Trump cult’.”
Oh, no! How terrible! Whatever will we do? We’ve lost people like GW Bush, Jeb! the always looking for a war Cheneys, Mitch McConnell, Adam Kinziger, etc. How can we possibly cope without them?
Very well, thank you.
These idiots do not realize that by doing this, they are actually welding their voters closer to the 45th president. The more they criticize, the more they rail, the more they champ the more we see how weak and self serving these politicians are.
This is a fact that Politico reporter Tara Palmeri found out when she visited the anti Liz Cheney rally in Wyoming. Since leaving office, the support for Donald Trump from his base is even stronger, she concluded.
“People don’t want to hear anything against Trump,” Palmeri said in an MSNBC interview. “Actually, the more he stays out of the media, the more that he becomes this martyr, this looming figure over the GOP.”
In fact, Trump is “way more popular” in Wyoming than Cheney, she said.
“I actually went out of my way to try to find someone who would defend [Cheney] and I really could not,” Palmeri said.
The reporter said the Trump base “is getting stronger, truly.”
“I think an impeachment [conviction] would make him even more powerful,” she said.
Yes, keep at it DC Swamp Republicans. You live in a different world.
Mitch McConnell has decided to dig his trench even deeper. He launched into newly elected Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green a “cancer on the Republican party because of her support for Trump and other issues.
She replied, “The real cancer for the Republican Party is weak Republicans who only know how to lose gracefully.”
And will we cry about losing the Lincoln Project guys who are another mutation of Never Trumpers? These are the guys like wife bashing George Conway, McCain buddy Rick Wilson and John Weaver. You know, Weaver, the guy who was allegedly soliciting a 14 year old boy and other young boys for sex? Or Karl Rove, who said he knew about this for 32 years?
How can everyday Republican voters go on without them?
There is a real once in a lifetime opportunity for the GOP right now to take the voters that the Democrats claim to have, but have discarded. These would be working class people, Hispanic working class people, blacks who enjoyed greater employment under Trump and all the Democrats who saw the hypocrisy in their own party and walked away.
New leaders among us will displace the swine-at-the-trough DC Republicans. It’s inevitable.
That’s why they squeal so loudly.
