Saving Face for Obama

The hoopla around Chinese premier Hu Jin-tao’s visit to Washington included news of a deal for Boeing. Dominic Gates of the Seattle Times reported that there was nothing new in this. “There were no new jet orders; all airplanes were announced and booked by Boeing as firm orders over the past four years. Chinese airlines had already paid nonrefundable deposits and signed contracts for all the jets, most of them as far back as 2007.”  Done in the Bush administration with Obama taking credit.
